Salem Man - There are a number of great options for how to make your ride through the park. Take a nice roll around the paved areas, or get off the paths and let loose in the trails through the forest. It's even a decent ride TO the park if you decide to ride your bikes there from your home. Should you come from downtown or South Salem, my only advice would be to skip River Road, and cut up through the neighborhoods. You can cut across into the neighborhood right across from KFC.

Rebekah - that's exactly how I felt...we live less than a mile away too!

Deanna - It really is the best of both worlds now.

I have to say I like the fact that they have a little of both. Its nice to ride on pavement and off-road in the same ride. I like the sound bike tires make on pavement, very soothing.

I can't believe my parents live right around the corner from the park and I haven't gotten down there yet. It looks pretty nice, although I can see why you'd be upset. The asphalt doesn't exactly fit into the landscape either. :)
